Unsought product (goods)
Consumer products that the consumer either does not know about or knows about but does not normally think of buying. For example, microwave oven was an unsought good for a long time to most customers until they were made aware of the product. An example of a known but unsought product is a set of encyclopedias—most people opt not to buy a set for home use. Unsought goods typically require considerable marketing effort, specially advertising and personal selling.
