Gestalt

A German term meaning “pattern” or “configuration” that has come to represent various principles of perceptual organization. While Gestalt psychology refers to a German school of psychology that focuses on total configuration or whole patterns. Stimuli, such as advertising messages, are seen as an integral whole. In short, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
