Trading area

A geographically delineated region, containing potential customers for whom there exists a probability of their purchasing a product or service from a particular firm or from a particular agglomeration of firms. Thus a trading area can be thought of as a series of demand gradients or zones in which, as the distance from the retailer increases the probability of a household purchasing or shopping there declines.
