Politz-Simmons method

A method of adjusting survey results for nonresponse. It assumes that the responses of “not-at-home” (nonrespondents) would have been similar to the actual responses of respondents who characterize themselves as “seldom at home.” The basic rationale is that people who are usually not at home are more difficult to catch for an interview and therefore will to be unrepresented in the survey. Consequently, the less a subject reports being at home, the more that subject’s should be weighted.
