Criterion validity

One of the types of validity that should be considered in using a measurement instrument for a research project. Criterion validity examines whether the measurement scale performs as expected in relation to other variables selected as meaningful criteria. Criterion variable may include demographic and psychographic characteristics, attitudinal and behavioural measures, or scores obtained from other scales. Based on the time period involved, criterion validity can take two forms, concurrent and predictive validity.
