Rank-order scaling

A comparative scaling technique in which the respondents are presented with several objects simultaneously and asked to order or rank them according to some criterion. For example, respondents may be asked to rank brands of soft drinks according to overall preference. Rank order scaling is commonly used to measure preferences for brands as well as attributes. Rank order data are frequently obtained in conjoint analysis and are in the ordinal scale form.
