Publicity

Any nonpersonal stimulation of demand for a product, service, or business unit by planting commercially significant news about it in a published medium or obtaining favorable presentation of it upon radio or television, that is not paid for by the sponsor. Organizations seek good publicity and frequently provide the material for it in the form of news releases, press conferences, and photographs. There is, of course, also bad publicity, which organizations try to avoid or deflect.
