Free newspaper

Usually weekly, a local newspaper delivered door-todoor free of charge. Revenue obtained from large number of advertisers who are given access to a very large circulation and saturation coverage of a town or area. Some towns have three or four such papers. Mostly owned by large regional newspaper groups. In some cases have replaced paid-for weeklies because of their ability to attract large volumes of advertising, largely from stores, automobile dealers and estate agents plus lassifieds.
